Dianne Cawood has performed in more than 600 theatrical performances, including opera, musicals, dinner theatre, concerts, and dramas.  Commitment, sincerity, musical and dramatic integrity are infused into each song she sings from her vast and multifaceted repertoire. The foundations of her teaching are love of song, energy, compassion, and an understanding that art can transcend human differences.

Dianne spent many years in New York City, where she studied and performed more than 20 operatic roles, including Mimi and Musetta (LaBoheme), Nedda (Pagliacci), Manon (Manon), and Pamina (The Magic Flute). She has concertized and performed musical theatre and dinner theatre roles in NYC, Pennsylvania, the Rocky Mountain region, and California.  As an Artist-In-Residence for the Wyoming Council On The Arts, Ms. Cawood presented concerts and workshops to a wide variety of audiences, including students (K-12 and college), senior citizens, and prison inmates.  Ms. Cawood is known for her ease of performing with a wide and varied repertoire, musical and vocal integrity, and her dramatic abilities.

In 1988, Ms. Cawood moved to Southern California to attend graduate school at San Diego State University, completing an M.F.A. degree in Musical Theatre in 1991. She performed extensively in both the Music and Theatre Departments at SDSU. In addition to standard operatic and musical theatre roles, Ms. Cawood also created the role of Peg Malone in the world premiere performance of the musical First Star (Lutvak & Ivers).

Currently, Ms. Cawood performs in varied venues in the Southern California area, including:

  • Soprano soloist at California's first mission (Mission de Alcala).
  • Independent recitalist (San Diego Classical Music Society, Long Beach Opera Guild, Oceansides's Leisure Village, Better Worlde Galeria).
  • Soloist for weddings, funerals, art fairs, and other special occasions (Rancho Bernardo Arts Fair, Festa Bella, La Jolla's Poetry Unlimited).
  • Performer at supper clubs and country clubs (Avanti Ristorant, Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, Stoneridge Country Club, The Westgate Hotel)

In addition to multiple performances in Southern California, Ms. Cawood continues to perform in NYC and the Rocky Mountain region. During Fall 1999, Ms. Cawood performed as a soloist in Spain, Portugal, and Austria.
